Prof. McQueen was recently appointed by Pope Francis as a member of the International Theological Commission for its 2014-2019 term. Prof. McQueen is one of five women appointed; this more than doubles the female representation on the Commission which until 2004 had no female presence. The Commission was established in 1969 to study important doctrinal issues as an aid to the Pope and to the Congregation for the Doctrine of the Faith.
Prof. McQueen is well known as the Executive Director of the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute, Toronto and is often the quoted voice on issues of medical ethics, end-of -life decisions and family life in the Catholic tradition. She has been teaching at the University of St. Michael’s College Faculty of Theology since she obtained her doctorate in 1994.
Fr. Darren Dias OP will be our Celebrant. Fr. Dias joined the Faculty of Theology at the University of St. Michael’s College in 2008. He is a member of the Canadian province of Dominican Friars and serves as the Director of the Dominican Institute of Toronto.
We hope that you will join us again this year! Please let us know by March 4, 2015 if you are able to attend.
