The CPSO is holding consultations on their MAiD policy and the Human Rights policy. As we stated in a previous email, the college currently requires physicians to create a pathway for MAiD through an “effective referral”. The deadline has been extended to April 30th so if you haven’t added your voice, please do so.

We have prepared a guide for filling out the surveys which you can find here: https://maid2mad.ca/resources/
You can also put your comments on the online discussion forum. The discussion forum gives you more freedom to express your opinion than the survey (which is quite challenging in the way the questions are written)
Can you circulate this widely in your network?
We have also submitted a response from this group to the CPSO consultation. Read it here.
Dr Leonie Herx is the immediate past president of CSPCP. CSPCP also made an excellent submission. Read it here.
We encourage all organizations to participate.
OMA elections closing April 13th:
The OMA elections are underway and we have asked friends who have worked with the OMA to share names of people who would be pro-conscience.
While there could be other good candidates, we are endorsing these candidates based on those recommendations:
President elect:
Anne Holland
Board:
Baseer Khan
Paul Conte
James Kovacs
Cynthia Walsh
Zainab Abdurrahman
Michael Brandt
Rohit Kumar
Thank you for your efforts.
Sincerely,
Dr. Ramona Coelho and Dr. Leonie Herx
