The Office for Evangelization and Catechesis of the Canadian Conference of Catholic Bishops (CCCB) and the Catholic Organization for Life and Family (COLF) have developed and launched a web-based video resource to assist with reflections on, and in the study of, Pope Francis’ Apostolic Exhortation Amoris Laetitia on love in the family. The resource consists of nine 7-8 minute videos as well as discussion guides. It is designed to be used by individuals in their homes or by groups gathered in diocesan, eparchial, parish, school or other Catholic institutional settings.
A number of people contributed to the production of the resource, including Bishops: His Eminence Gérald Cyprien Cardinal Lacroix, Archbishop of Québec and Primate of Canada, His Eminence Thomas Cardinal Collins, Archbishop of Toronto, the Most Reverend Christian Lépine, Archbishop of Montreal, the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J., Archbishop of Ottawa, the Most Reverend Richard Smith, Archbishop of Edmonton, the Most Reverend Paul-André Durocher, Archbishop of Gatineau, and the Most Reverend Noël Simard, Bishop of Valleyfield. Dr. Michel MacDonald, Director of COLF, and Dr. Moira McQueen, Executive Director of the Canadian Catholic Bioethics Institute, were also resource persons for the project.
This new resource responds to the invitation of Pope Francis to study the document carefully when he says,
“…I do not recommend a rushed reading of the text. The greatest benefit, for families themselves and for those engaged in the family apostolate, will come if each part is read patiently and carefully, or if attention is paid to the parts dealing with their specific needs” (Amoris Laetitia, n. 7).
